The Mystery of the Unfinished Obelisk of Aswan, Egypt | Ancient Architects

February 7, 2024

The famous Unfinished Obelisk of Egypt, which still sits in a granite quarry in Aswan, is known for its massive size, but also because the work that was carried out on it was never completed.

Nevertheless, the fact that it remains in an unfinished state has given us the opportunity to learn more about the ways the ancient Egyptians produced these colossal, important, and iconic structures. However, is it as straightforward as Egyptologists say, or does the creation of these enormous granite obelisks still remain a mystery?
