The Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Antiquities has opened the conference on contemporary tourism destinations, held under the theme “Sustainable Development for a Better Future.”
Speaking at the event, the Minister of Culture, Tourism, and Antiquities, Ahmed Fakkak Al-Badrani, noted that the gathering brings together representatives from 22 Arab countries through a joint effort involving the Arab Tourism Organization, the Arab League’s General Secretariat, and the ministry itself.
Al-Badrani explained that the ministry, working closely with the government, continues to support the development of both the tourism and heritage sectors. He added that significant progress has been made in recovering numerous artifacts that were stolen or illegally taken in past years.
He also announced plans to make archaeological sites more accessible. A large plot of land has been set aside for a new cultural museum, which will display many artifacts currently kept in storage, offering visitors a deeper look into the rich legacy of Mesopotamian civilization.
